Update

I only have a couple of things worth showing this week. I've added some more color to this Bitty Bosco.

I'm starting to add a little more color to this mini-Maj. I'm really excited about how this one is going to look.
It's hot out here this week and I've noticed that my pieces are not drying very well, especially the ones that have some white in them. I thought the heat would make things dry more quickly, but I guess it's the other way around.
My time may be a little limited in the studio this week because I've been called to jury duty AGAIN. This is the third time! I wish I'd get picked so I can get it over with. At least this time it's at a facility close to my house. I can get some sketching done while I'm there, so I shouldn't gripe about it too much.

Weekly Update

Not a lot to show this week. This piece is still in its early stages, the white mane and tail were bugging me so I put a quick layer of back on them. The body color is still being worked on, I'm planning on it being a little more mousy and/or slightly darker.

I spent a lot more time on this one but it might not show. A lot of softening of the dapples. I think the dark area on his hip is too even so I'll need to make that more variegated.

That's all for this week!

Yay! Back in Business

Everything's back in order now (more or less), and I snapped some new pictures:

Here's a Mini-Maj I'm working on. This is just an initial basecoat. I've had to go back in and sand a little bit so it's slow going right now.
Here's the classic shire. I think dapple grays take more time than roans. The patterning is so complex...

This one is finally starting to come together. I screwed up the pattern on the other side, though, so it's taking me extra time to fix it.

I'm starting to get the right color and shading on this one.

I think you can see the dapples a little better in this photo.

I believe this was the first resin I ever bought, before I knew anything about the different artists or molds. I just knew I could afford it LOL! When I bought it, I wasn't aware of the whole "casting a custom" controversy, and I believe this is a SM Arab mare that was customized into a drafter and then cast. I'm not positive, but I think that's the case. I believe this resin is called Valdemar and was made by Paige Easley Patty? If anyone can correct me, please let me know!

I've started on the color of this Bitty Bosco. I have to make a base for him! He stands okay on a flat surface, but when I put him on this cloth to photograph him, he will not stand up. My plan is to make him a nice warm grullo or dun pinto. Now I'm not sure about the pinto markings because I'm liking his color so far. What do you think?

Here's a medallion I'm working on. It's very relaxing to work on these. It's actually a little darker than the photo shows.

Dinky Duke is coming along, slowly.
And that's it for this week! I've been keeping myself busy.

Argh! Still No Computer

Well, my worst fears were realized, and it turns out it was the logic board on my computer. So I've had to order another computer. I'm still limping along on the old one, but I can't use it for very long before it freaks out. I'm trying not to use it, because I'm hoping to transfer all my files to the new computer, and I don't want to lose access to the hard drive. So no pictures this week, either :-( Having to pay for another computer was a major bummer, too.

I am almost done with the prepwork on a mini-Maj commission (sometimes prepping drags on because I find little things that I missed). I should have at least a basecoat on him this week. I'm almost done with the Pixie, I think she came out really well. I found a couple of spots that I had to touch up in oils, so I'm waiting for that to dry. I will probably have her for sale in a couple of weeks. I also did some more work on the classic Shire in dapple grey, the Huck Bey (whose color I actually like now!) and that SM Seabiscuit in light buckskin. I made a big mistake on him, so I'm having to backtrack there.

Next week I should be all set up with the new computer and can resume living my normal wired life! I miss my computer...
