At this point I've airbrushed a light color over the pangare areas and up into the body for blending purposes. I'm really guessing here over what colors to use for this one. This was a combination of Chroma Taupe, Titanium White and I think Raw Umber mixed with a little Golden Raw Sienna. I *hate* it at this point! This is where I go crazy wanting to work on it some more because I can't stand seeing it this way.

Now I've gone over it again with the airbrush to try and soften everything up. The dapples look a little too uniform to me at this point.

At this point I have gone over all the dapples and the gray in-between with colored pencil, then blended it with a "blender" colored pencil and a stump, and now I've airbrushed a couple of dark areas and more white to make it more like the pattern of the reference picture I'm using.

I've added the dapples by hand with acrylic paint. I know it looks hideous right now but this is the first of many, many layers that will be going on this model.

Gray Silver

I've been working really hard on several pieces but didn't have a chance to download any pictures from my camera until recently. Here's the Silver that I'm painting dappled gray. I've airbrushed some gray on him and next I'll go in and add the dapples by hand.

I wish I could say that I'm ready to start detailing this model again, but the body still needs a little work. I've toned down the metallic sheen in her coat and still have another layer or so to put on her before I can detail her.

I've been neglecting my blog! Actually, I've just been neglecting to take pictures, since almost everything I've been working on the past few days has been prepwork. Lots of sanding and filling in. My favorite type of filler is red automotive putty; it smells terrible but it lays on very smoothly and sands very well. The only thing I don't like about it is that it's red, I wish it came in white or a natural color. It's just great for filling in little pinholes and small divots.
